成田空港から10時間のフライトをし、ロサンゼルス空港に到着しブライアン・タケダさんと合流し、バンに乗りロサンゼルスの高級住宅街を抜けてUCLAにつきました。UCLAのキャンパスについたときちょうど昼休みでキャンパスの中心は学生さんたちでいっぱいで、噂に聞いていた通り、半分以上アジア人学生（ほぼ中国人留学生）でした。だいたいアジアの学生はアジア人の学生と行動するなど、同じ人種の学生で行動している学生が多いなと感じました。カフェテリアではすしやハンバーガー屋があり、大学生だけではなく、小中学生や一般の方も昼食を食べにきていました。
昼食を食べたあとキャンパスツアー日系人学生にしてもらいました。キャンパスは東洋大学の何十倍で多くの学生が教室移動でスケートボードや自転車を使うほど敷地面積が大きいキャンパスでした。ものすごく大きいキャンパスにも関わらず、こらからまた新しい建物を建てたり、キャンパスの面積を拡大しようとしていると聞いて、資金力と設備投資がすごかったです。

After a 10 hour flight from Narita airport we arrived to LAX and met with Bryan Takeda. Without a break we got on the van and went straight to UCLA. When we arrived at UCLA it was just lunch time so many students were hanging around the campus. There were many Asian students (most of them were Chinese). I thought most of the students were hanging out with the same race. After eating lunch, Nikkei students held a campus tour for us. Campus was more than 10 times bigger than our Toyo’s. Because of the huge campus many students were using skateboards. I thought that was cool. And also guide told we even the campus is huge UCLA is still constructing more and more building. I was surprised of the financial power of UCLA.
