去年の夏、浜松にあるムンド・デ・アレグレア（以下ムンド）という学校を訪れた。
ムンドとは、ブラジル・ペルー人のための学校であり、ブラジル・ペルーの教育課程に沿った教育をしている学校である。親が日本で働くため日本に移住し、日本語を理解しづらい子供を日本の学校に通わせるのは心配なことから造られた学校だ。
私たちがこのムンドに訪れた理由は、在日の方々について、直接会って、理解を深めるというものであった。
実際に私はブラジルの公用語ポルトガル語のクラスに体験入学させてもらった。高校二年生のクラスであったが、私は一切理解が出来なかった。先生も生徒もとてもフレンドリーで、私がわからないとゆっくり‘一言’で伝えようとしてくれたが、その単語も全く分からなかった。ニュアンスで多少は伝わるが、合っているのかも分からず結局授業では何も出来ずに終わってしまった。
今回このような経験から私は、子供を日本の普通の学校に通わせるのではなく、ムンドという学校に通わせる親の気持ちを少し理解した。
しかし、ムンドの学生は勉学や夢においてとても向上心のある人が多く、感心した。そのような生徒たちは日本の学校に通っても、その人柄などからすべての人が認め、協力してくれるのではないかと思った。

During last summer, 8members of professor Ashizawa’s seminar including myself, visited a school in Hamamatsu which is called Mundo de Alegria (hereinafter, this will be referred to us Mundo). In the seminar, we are learning about foreign people living in Japan. As part of the seminar, we meet them directly. That is why we visited Mundo.
Mundo is a school for Brazilians and Peruvians and which uses curricula from only Brazil and Peru. It was constructed for Brazilians and Peruvians because their parents immigrated to Japan to work and were really anxious about their children going to a Japanese school, as they cannot understand Japanese at all.
When visiting Mundo, experienced a Portuguese class. All of the students were about 16. I couldn’t understand anything at all. However, teachers and students were really kind and friendly. When I did not understand, they spoke slowly, used one word at a time and tried to explain to me but I couldn’t understand. To be honest, I might have been able to understand through nuance, but I could not try anything in the class with confidence.
From this experience, I understood a little bit why parents want children to go to Mundo, not a Japanese school. But I admire that students of Mundo have an aspiration for their studies and futures. I guess that most Japanese would be proud of the students’ characters and cooperate with them, if they knew them.
